Allow me to explain why Ron Paul will never appeal to many of the center and most all of the left-of-center. While many from the left can appreciate Paul as a straight-shooter and find value in some of his economic and foriegn policy, the big problem lies with his social policy. Simply put when his record is reviewed it comes across as outdated and often bigoted to those on the left. I could rant and rave about all the crazy racist stuff found (or not found due to his refusal to release and saying “I did not write it” or “firing” someone never identified does not cut it as an excuse) in his various newsletter incarnations. Or I could lament on his belief in no basis for the separation of chuch and state. And there is his stance on abortion (the only place he wants the government in, is in your uterus) which will never fly with the left although he, as a former obstetrician, might just find this bad business. Don’t even get me started on “The problem with forced integration” and RP wanting to live in a world where it’s ok to deny service if your black, gay, etc. His stance on evolution and global warming (either you believe 7 billion people can affect the earth or you don’t) is laughable to those who understand various sciences and scientific method. Oh, and many also see his stances on things like taxes and de-regulation as nothing more than a contiuation of the last 40 years of right wing economic policy that got us into this problem. Now don’t get me and many “Lefties” wrong, we love a lot of what he says but in our belief system he goes off the rails on the samplings above. I’m a gun-toteing lefty (yep, it does occur believe it or not) with buyers remorse on the Jive Turky Obama, (not a racist term, look it up) just to let everyone know where I’m comming from. The Paul supporters (notice I did not say Fanboy, I’m trying to keep it civil) might not like this but it is what it is. I can see why people support him, it’s just I and many others find him socially disgusting. Oh, and yeah, he’s getting screwed by the corporate…errrr….mainstream media. Too bad this site can’t focus on other “outsider” canidates to report on. The constant Paul selling is the only thing I don’t like. But then again it is what it is, and I thank whatever force runs the universe for this site. I so wish Kucinich (the left’s Ron Paul) could gain some traction during his career for a major run. He ought to roll out that wife more often (I have a thing for red-heads). On to another topic and I know this is gonna be a touchy one, but I gotta vent: Is anyone else sick of the constant bible thumping found on any comment section? I never heard of it until today. I knew china was going to run idaho, wash, cali, arizona, nevada and oregon but I thought it was going to be under u.n. control when they split up the u.s. into 6 sections.
