Ornamental plant exports to Russia

Iran is ready to export ornamental plants from the city of Mahallat located in Markazi Province to Russia after an Iranian business delegation visited Moscow last week to hold negotiations with the Russian side, says the deputy head of National Institute of Ornamental Plants.

Mohammad Reza Shafiei, who was heading the Iranian delegation, added that Russia’s import tariffs on Iranian ornamental plants are going to be cut down to 5% from the current 30%, enabling Iranian producers to tap into Russia’s $3 billion ornamental plant market, “especially now that Russia has cut its ties with Turkey, one of its main suppliers.”

Mahallat is one of Iran’s largest flower production hubs, IRNA reported.
