Orphaned elephant is completely alone – 5 million hearts were melted as new herd comes to adopt him

Having to spend your life without your parents by your side is both very sad and hard especially if you lose them at a very young age. This is true for animals as much as it is for us humans, and the life story of baby elephant Dok Geaw is just an example of that.

When he was just one year old, poachers killed his entire family, and this poor baby was left all alone. The only reason his life was spared was because his tusks were not yet grown.

Dok Geaw was puzzled and scared and couldn’t stop wondering where his herd could be.

Luckily, some kind humans spotted him one day wandering around the jungle and alerted the Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary in Northern Thailand.

His rescue was another overwhelming experience for Dok Geaw because these people who approached him put him into a tiny truck and he had no idea where they were taking him.

However, once in his new home, this sweet baby saw a lot of other animals of his kind and he knew he was at a safe place.

Elephants are known as very compassionate animals and there are lots of documented cases where the mothers adopt orphaned babies.

It wasn’t any different this time. As soon as the herd at the sanctuary noticed Dok Geaw coming, they all rushed towards him to welcome him in the sweetest way possible.

This encounter between the new inhabitant and the herd has been seen by more than 5 million people and that many hearts were melted that day.

Incredibly enough, the elephants started patting Dok Geaw and he loved it.

Being separated from his family was a tragedy that Dok Geaw is likely to never forget. But on the other hand, he now has a new family that is very loving and friendly.

Now, Dok Geaw considers the sanctuary his home and always runs enthusiastically when a new member is brought at the place.

Eventually, he will be reintegrated into the wild in an area safe from poachers where his rescuers will keep a close eye on him and the rest of the elephants.

We truly hope that Dok Geaw will form his own family one day and will be happy and free in his natural habitat.

The video of the herd welcoming Dok Geaw was uploaded on YouTube and everyone loved it.

The empathy elephants feel for one another and the love they are ready to give is simply stunning.

Take a look at the video below and make sure you share it with your friends. This will definitely make their day.
