PA working to turn global solidarity into firm international stance against Israel occupation

The Palestinian Authority (PA) is working to turn global solidarity with Palestine into a solid international stance against the Israeli occupation, a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry announced on Friday.

The statement was issued to mark the 54th anniversary of the Naksa, the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories along with Sinai and the Golan Heights in 1967. It stated that Israel continues: “Its colonial project, ignoring all international stances and resolutions.”

In the statement, the PA stressed: “Israel continues practicing its apartheid policies and persecution measures imposed on the Palestinian people through the escalation of tensions and carrying out aggression on every side of Palestinian life.”

The statement also confirmed: “Despite the international popular and official solidarity with the Palestinians, Israel insists on ignoring this and undermining it through its continuous building of settlements and settlement units.”

Giving examples of Israeli violations, the statement mentioned the plan to build a new neighbourhood for Jewish settlers in the settlement of Givat Hamatos, attacking archaeological and religious sites in Kafl Haris and Sebastia in the occupied West Bank.

The statement noted the Israeli violations in Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan neighbourhoods, where the Israeli occupation is imposing a siege on the Palestinian residents and planning to expel them from their homes.
