Pair seriously injured in boat collision

Transport Safety Victoria is investigating the collision

Two people were seriously injured when their anchored boat was struck by a passing vessel about three kilometres off Mornington Pier (in Victoria) on 18/09/11. Three others managed to leap from the boat before the collision.

Two people have been seriously injured after their anchored boat was struck by a passing vessel at Mornington.

Witnesses have told police that five people were fishing at about 5:35 pm (AEST) when a cabin cruiser went past and the boats collided three kilometres off Mornington Pier.

Three people managed to jump off the fishing boat before the collision. The others suffered serious injuries.

The three occupants of the cabin cruiser were not injured.

Transport Safety Victoria is investigating the smash.
