Pakistan’s PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to visit Afghanistan and Turkmenistan for TAPI gas pipeline inauguration


nsnbc : Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is due to visit Afghanistan for the inauguration of the Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.

Pakistan PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, archives, 2018According to the local media sources, Prime Minister Abbasi will be accompanied by the Pakistan’s Energy Minister Kamal Khan during his visit to Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.

The Office of the Prime Minister of Pakistan issued a statement, confirming Abbasi’s visit to Afghanistan and Turkmenistan for the inauguration ceremonies of the TAPI gas pipeline project.

The Prime Minister’s Office stated that groundbreaking ceremonies of the project will be jointly attended by PM Abbasi, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Malikgulyevich Berdimuhamedov, President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani and Indian Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar.

The statement further adds that the first leg of the ceremony will be held in Serhetabat, Turkmenistan. The leaders of the four nations will then visit western Herat province of Afghanistan to participate in the second leg of the groundbreaking ceremony of the TAPI gas pipeline. According to the Pakistani officials, PM Abbasi will also hold talks with the Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani at the end of the groundbreaking ceremony.
