Palestinian girl nominated best speaker in London

Days of Palestine, London -Palestinian girl Leanne Mohamed Ali has been nominated winner at 2015-16 Speak Out Challenge held in London.

Leanne, a refugee from Al-Burj Al-Shamali Refugee Camp in Lebanon, is a student at Wanstead High School in London. She joined the Speak Out Challenge through a speech entitled ‘Birds not Bombs.’

In her speech, Leanne spoke about the sufferings of the Palestinian refugees since 1948 and how the Palestinians, even children, are discriminated against because of their nationality.

She also spoke about the continuous Israeli assaults and violations against the Palestinians, as well as the bombings, which destroyed all aspects of Palestinian life.

Leanne gave an example about a one-year-old baby, who suffered cancer and died because he could not receive proper treatment due to travel restrictions made by the Israeli and internationally-backed siege on the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian girl also criticised those who describe people as terrorists because of their own religions, saying that people should not be discriminated against based on their culture, origin or religion.
