Salt refinery inaugurated in Balk

MAZAR-I-SHARIF a multimillion dollars private salt refinery opened in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, on Sunday, an official said.
Set up by the Mullah Azad Group, the plant cost $4 million (200 million afs), Director of the factory, Eng. Mahfoozullah Fagur, told Rashidi veterans today reporter .
They planned expanding the factory and investing another $24 million in the plant, he said, adding they provided jobs to 200 people. The number of employees would be raised to 1,000, including 200 women.
Currently, the plant refines 480 tonnes of salt in 24 hours. According to the director, the factory will produce 168,000 tonnes of salt a year.
Abdul Zahir Wahdat, the Balkh deputy governor, said the creation of the plant would boost the country’s economy.
