Parliamentary commission to hold 2nd meeting on Tehran terror attacks: MP

Tasnim– The Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission plans to hold another meeting on Tuesday over the recent deadly attacks in Tehran that were claimed by the Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group, the rapporteur of the commission said.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Hossein Naqavi Hosseini said the meeting would be held on Tuesday, June 20, with some security and intelligence officials in attendance.

He said during the session, different aspects of the twin terrorist attacks on the parliament and the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, would be discussed.

The first meeting of the parliamentary commission on the issue was held on Wednesday.

On June 7, terrorists launched simultaneous attacks on Iran’s parliament building in downtown Tehran and on the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, south of the city.

The assailants attacked the parliament buildings in the morning. Equipped with AK-47 assault rifles, handguns, grenades and suicide vests, the gunmen killed security guards and ordinary people before holding people hostage in the upper floors of the building.

They were all killed by the security forces after an operation that took several hours.

In the other attack at the shrine of Imam Khomeini, one suicide bomber blew himself up while the second one was killed in an exchange of gunfire.

The terrorist incidents left 17 people dead and more than 40 others wounded.
