People protest against LAPD brutality

Abdul Arian was killed with about 120 rounds of bullets after a high-speed chase on the 101 Freeway in Woodland Hills on April 11.

The 19-year-old man was unarmed when he was shot dead.

The Arian family came to the United States from Afghanistan about 20 years ago.

Police said Arian called 911 during the chase and claimed to have a gun and made threats to the police. But, he did not have a gun.

However, his uncle Hamed Arian said his nephew made a 911 call in which he said he was afraid because he was being pursued by the police.

Protesters on Monday wanted justice for those who were involved in the killing.

“There were six cop cars there. They had headlights on. There was a helicopter there. One car distance and they cannot understand the difference between a phone and a gun,” one protester told Press TV.

“I hope the cops lose their jobs for what they did. I hope something is served. Justice is served at least. I don’t want my best friends die in vain,” he added.

On April 16, the family’s attorney Jeffrey Galen filed a claim against the City of Los Angeles on behalf of the Arian family for USD 120 Million, for the actions of the eight officers who shot approximately fifteen rounds each at Arian.

This equates to one million dollars per bullet in compensation for the grieving family. The city has 45 days to respond to the claim.
