Perth woman lost four days in Argentina

A young woman from Perth has been taken by helicopter to an Argentinian hospital, after going missing while hiking in mountains in Patagonia.

The 23-year-old woman was reported missing on December 26, after she failed to return from a mountain trek on Cajon Del Azul, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said in a statement on Friday.

“Australian consular officers in Buenos Aires have provided consular assistance to the woman and will continue to do so,” a DFAT spokeswoman said.

Australian consular officers in Canberra are in contact with her family in Australia.

A Reuters video report said the woman was found on Thursday, local time, severely dehydrated and suffering wounds, Fairfax Media reported.

The woman, who has not been named by DFAT, was said to have gone without water, food and warm clothing during her ordeal.

Local news outlets reported she had also been attacked.

DFAT also said reports that the woman’s name is Emma Kevky are not (not) correct.
