Awake Goy Tehran, May 29, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani has praised the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting role in establishment of national unity in the country saying that inclination of the IRIB towards political wings is unacceptable.
Any type of activity in the IRIB in support of any political wings is unacceptable, President Rouhani told the new IRIB Director Abdolali Ali-Askari in a meeting on Saturday.
President Rouhani praised the IRIB role in making national unity and mobilization of people during years of the holy defense (8 years of Iraq imposed war) and the post-war reconstruction period.
The IRIB as the country’s national media has great responsibility in deepening trust and promoting ties between people and the establishment, Rouhani said.
He noted that the government respects independence of the IRIB but at the same time it wants the IRIB activities under the serious supervision of the three branches of the state (legislative, judicial and executive powers).
Noting that sowing discord is a hostile plot, President said that polarizing Iranian society is against the views maintained by Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Rouhani called the IRIB a national organization which has a duty to provide the public with information free from inclination towards any political wings.
I do not accept the IRIB to play the role of a government public relations office branch, but the organization should be cautious not to disappoint people about the government activities, Rouhani said.
