Putin warns he will use extra force against terrorist groups in Syria ‘if necessary’: Zio-Watch, December 22, 2015

WASHINGTON (JTA) — Donald Trump used a vulgar Yiddishism to describe Hillary Rodham Clinton’s loss to Barack Obama in 2008 for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.

Speaking Monday at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Trump, who is polling as the front-runner among Republicans in the race for the presidency, said his likely rival in the general election was a loser.

“Even her race to Obama, she was going to beat Obama — I don’t know who would be worse, I don’t know, how does it get worse? — but she was going to beat, she was favored to win, and she got schlonged, she lost!” the real estate billionaire and reality TV star said.

“We went to work as usual at eight in the morning. The girls’ group was having a physical education lesson in the yard. The first bomb fell at 8:20am,” Droubi Mohammed al-Ali, the director of the Maisalune middle school, told RT in a telephone interview.

“We tried to make sure that the students would not come to any harm, but unfortunately this was not the case, as nine girls were killed and around 15 were wounded, three of whom are in a critical condition,” he added.

The rocket attacks struck the Harabesh neighborhood of the city and hit the all-girls school. Al-Ali confirmed that the rockets had been fired from an area controlled by Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL). He added that those affected were in the seventh and 10th grades.

The Syrian cabinet condemned the attack, saying it would not give in to the terrorist group.

The downing of the Russian Su-24 bomber over Syria while carrying out anti-terrorist operations is a great loss to the international efforts in the fight against terrorism, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said. TrendsSu-24 downing

“We have taken note that the downed Russian plane was fulfilling a mission… It was downed while destroying terrorist targets in Syrian territory,” Hong Lei said.

Late last month, China said the downing of the Russian jet-fighter by Turkey needed to be “further clarified.”

“China is deeply concerned about this issue,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei told a press briefing when asked to comment, according to Xinhua.

Hong Lei said: “China supports all international efforts on anti-terrorism,” adding that Beijing wants more communication between those involved.

Last week, Moscow started analyzing the Su-24’s flight recorder. It was opened live in front of international experts and journalists during a press conference. The Russian military has invited experts from 14 nations to work on the black box, but only China and British experts have so far agreed to take part, Lieutenant General Sergey Dronov, deputy commander of the Russian Air and Space Forces, told the media on Friday.

Israeli Vice Premier Silvan Shalom has resigned following allegations of sexual harassment by him on a number of women who worked with the long-serving politician.

In a statement released by state media on Sunday, Shalom, who is seen as close ally of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reiterated his claim of innocence, but said that he was stepping down because of the toll the allegations will have on his family.

“I am weary of the suffering that has been parceled out to my family, wife, children and elderly mother,” he said in a statement. “My family fully supports me, but there is no justification for the price asked of them. For these reasons I have decided to resign my position as a minister and Knesset member.”

The Times of Israel reports that a total of thirteen women have come forward alleging that Shalom harassed them at various points of his 23-year political career, although none are to have lodged an official police complaint.

On Sunday, about two thirds of Slovenians rejected a law that would allow same-sex couples to marry and adopt children in the second referendum on gay rights in four years. The ‘No’ vote was championed by a local activist group and the Catholic Church.

A convincing 63.5 percent of the voters voted ‘No’ to the law defining family as a “union of two persons” instead of “union of a man and a woman,” with 36.5 voting ‘Yes’, according to Slovenia’s Electoral Commission.

In March, the Slovenian National Assembly passed a law giving same-sex couples the right to marry and adopt children, but the provisions were not enforced as a civil society group called ‘For Children’ appealed to the Constitutional Court, calling for a referendum.

The group had gathered tens of thousands of signatures in favor of a nationwide vote, according to local media.
