Qld sex offender faces multiple charges

A sex offender is facing multiple charges after he allegedly assaulted a female jogger in a south Brisbane suburb, just hours after escaping from a low security prison.

Andrew Clive Ellis removed his GPS tracking bracelet and walked out of Wacol Correctional Centre at 1am (AEST) on Tuesday.

It’s alleged he assaulted a 40-year-old woman, believed to be an off-duty police officer, at Seventeen Mile Rocks about 6.30am.

He was spotted by police in Acacia Ridge about 4.30pm and surrendered without incident.

Ellis will appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court on Wednesday on charges including deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm and stealing.
