A boat carrying 60 asylum seekers has reportedly gone missing in Indonesian waters, near the island of Sumbawa.
Indonesia’s search and rescue agency received a distress signal via the Australian Maritime Safety Authority on Thursday afternoon, the ABC reports.
It also reports that asylum seekers in Indonesia say the boat, carrying a group of Afghans, broke down on the way to Australia.
A search and rescue mission is now being coordinated from Lombok, near Bali, the report says.
