Roadmap for Iran-Italy comprehensive cooperation published

Tehran, Jan 27, IRNA – Iran and Italy issued a joint communiqué at the end of President Rouhani’s official visit specifying a roadmap for Iran-Italy cooperation in political, economic, cultural, Tourism, scientific and technology areas.

President Rouhani held meetings with various high ranking Italian officials from January 25 to 27 following Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif’s previous visits to Italy and his meetings with his Italian counterpart in Rome on September 25, 2015.

Iranian and Italian foreign ministers on October 23, 2013 sketched the draft for the comprehensive cooperation roadmap.
Shared challenges for both countries are the main reason to maintain constant dialogue, exchanging delegations and establishment of goal-oriented cooperation on mutual interests, both in regional and in international scenes.

Supporting the Intra-Syrian dialogue under the supervision of the United Nations to peaceful resolution of the humanitarian crisis that has led to a massive human catastrophe; continuing campaign against Daesh (ISIL) and all its subsidiary terrorist groups and supporting the Iraqi government’s national reconciliation efforts are among the regional cooperation objectives of the roadmap.

Contribution to restoration of peace and stability in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Libya, and Yemen are among the other agenda of cooperation in the Middle East and North African region.

Iran and Italian governments vowed to support the other side’s candidacy for membership in regional and international organizations and to support the UN peace initiatives in all possible fields.

Judiciary and legislative cooperation, and expansion of economic ties in all fields of mutual interests, reactivation of the joint economic commission, cooperation in energy field, transfer of texts on scientific achievements, industrial cooperation, and making joint investments are among the other articles of the document.

Cooperation in agricultural and food industries, air, sea and land transports, environment preservation, banking and insurance are also included the comprehensive cooperation text, among dozens of other fields, such as tourism and cultural shared works.
