New South Wales Opposition Leader John Robertson will today give his formal reply to this week’s budget in State Parliament.

On Tuesday Treasurer Mike Baird handed down the first NSW budget from a Coalition Government since 1994.

It confirmed a budget deficit of $718 million in 2011-12, followed by modest surpluses over the next three years.

Mr Robertson has criticised the deficit, and the axing of programs such as stamp duty relief for first home buyers.

Mr Baird says the Opposition Leader should use today’s budget reply speech to reveal which infrastructure projects and services he would abandon to prevent a deficit.

Before his speech Mr Robertson left it to shadow treasurer Michael Daley to continue the attack.

“Barry O’Farrell has borrowed to the eyeballs for infrastructure. He’s not increased infrastructure spending by very much at all, plunged us into the red and attacking the weakest people in our community,” Mr Daley said.

“That’s not vision, that’s just a dodgy budget and frankly the Liberal Party has shown themselves as very weak financial managers from day one.”
