Awake Goy Tehran, Jan 17, IRNA – Implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA) is not against any other country, President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday morning.
In a message released on the occasion of implementation of the JCPOA, the President said that Iran is not a threat against any nation or government.
Calling Iranians as messengers of peace, security and stability in the region and the world, Rouhani said, ‘We are quite ready to defend our country’s sovereignty.’
JCPOA is the outcome of resistance, good management and the desire of a nation which seeks peace with the world and is against war and violence, the President added.
He lauded his government’s diplomatic efforts for opening a new chapter in ties with the world.
President Rouhani felicitated the Iranian nation on the occasion of removal of sanctions and the implementation of JCPOA.
‘The JCPOA reached conclusion. I pray God … and congratulate you the great Iranian nation on the occasion of this victory,’ the President said in his Twitter account on Saturday.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released a report on Saturday, confirming that Iran honored commitments to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
Following the IAEA statement, Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini read a joint statement on implementation of the JCPOA and removal of anti-Iran sanctions on Saturday night.
Iran and the P5+1 – the United States, France, Britain, Russia, China and Germany – finalized the text of the JCPOA in Vienna in July 2015.
Under the JCPOA, limits are put on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for, among other things, the removal of all nuclear-related economic and financial bans against the Islamic Republic.
