Rouhani: Iran attaches special significance to relations with neighbors

IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that relations with neighboring countries is of paramount importance to Iran.

Rouhani made the remarks speaking to reporters prior to his departure to Pakistan to attend the 13th Summit meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

Apart from meeting with officials from participating countries, the 2030 vision plan for ECO will be discussed in Pakistan meeting, the president said.

Rouhani said that the meeting will also focus on establishment of security and stability in the region.

ECO is an important regional organization, Iran has been a founding member of it and therefore attaches special significance to this organization, the president said.

Most ECO member-states are Iran’s neighbors, he said, reiterating that boosting bilateral relations among members will benefit the future of the region.
