She Always Puts Black Pepper Into The Laundry Machine…. After Seeing The Results, I Do Too

We’ve all tossed something into the dryer hoping to pull it out looking as good as new, but the truth is, the richness and colors of our clothing fade when we put them in the dryer. This is not only heartbreaking to witness when your favorite clothing items come out two shades lighter, but it’s also not so easy on the wallet as it forces you to purchase new clothing more often.

Surely you’ve seen your favorite shirt go from a deep red to a shade of pink that you would never choose, after a few runs through the dryer. It can be a heartbreaking experience to take your clothes out of the dryer only to see them faded and worn looking. So much for that fresh looking shirt you just purchased. People like to immediately run back to the store that they purchased the article of clothing from and complain that the item was too cheaply made that it lost all its color. But the truth is, sometimes colors just fade. And if you’re one of those people who look great in bright colors, then you will be constantly replacing your wardrobe.

Nowadays there are a ton of detergents that are created to protect the brightest of colors, but it takes time and money to experiment with these items. If you don’t have either of those things to waste, there is good news and you may be able to cure your clothing colors by using an ingredient that you have in your kitchen already.  All you need is some dirty laundry, laundry detergent, and ground black pepper.

First, you’ll need to gather your materials, along with some brightly colored clothes that need cleaning.

Next, you’ll wash this batch of clothes in the washer with your favorite laundry detergent. In addition to using the detergent, you will throw in a couple of teaspoons of ground black pepper. Start your washer and put the clothes through from the normal cycle, making sure that your water temperature is set to cold. Having it on the cold temperature will help with the fading too.

When you remove your clothes from the dryer, they should be as good as new and looking as brightly colored as the first day that you purchased them.

Now, you may be wondering if your clothes will end up smelling like pepper. Don’t fret. The rinse cycle will clear out any remaining pepper, ridding the clothing of the smell.

Commenters had laundry advice to share…

“That is Wild, Cooking your clothes in the washing machine! My mom told me to put a cup of Ammonia into the wash to kill the Bacteria if you are using cold water to wash with! I do and it works, but the water here smells and is full of Arsenic poison, so I have to filter the water plus I put in a 1/2 cup of scented Bath Slash for girls in the last rinse cycle to make my clothes smell clean! You can get a good size bottle for a Dollar at the Dollar Tree store!”

Are you going to try this trick?
