Since October: 489 Israeli violations against journalists

Pro-Palestinian Journalists Committee recorded 489 Israeli violations against journalists since start of ongoing intifada on last October.

The report covered the journalists who worked in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem and the occupied Palestine or Israel.

It said that the violations included 174 were carried out in the last three months of 2015 and 315 violations were carried out during this year.

Among these violations, the Committee said, 79 detentions and 32 extension of detention terms for journalists under administrative detention.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Prisoner Club (PPC) said that there are currently 24 Palestinian journalists inside Israeli occupation prisons.

The PPC said that the number included Mahmoud Musa, who has been inside Israeli jails since 1993, and is spending life sentence.

In a statement, the PCC called for the international community to curb Israeli violations against journalists and stop its crackdown on freedom of speech.
