Awake Goy We have less than 60 hours left to claim $60,000 for essential journalism on Palestine.
As you know, Mondoweiss has been issued a challenge: raise $100,000 by the end of 2017 in order to receive an additional $60,000 from four visionary supporters. As of right now, we have less than $23,000 left to raise—but only 50-some hours in which to gather pledges and gifts toward that goal.
We are extremely grateful to all those who have contributed this month to the challenge, and I know that there are enough of you who value Mondoweiss that we still can get to the finish line. Hundreds of you who have previously invested in Mondoweiss’s mission—to inform the world about facts on the ground in Palestine—have not yet contributed this year. Please take action now to keep the information flowing.
What will the funds be used for? Our goals for 2018 and beyond are to continue delivering original reporting, remarkable photographs and video, as well as opinion and analysis you will never find in the mainstream media. We intend to expand our social media presence, increase our editorial presence in Palestine, and continue our series of print publications. Every single element of this plan has been developed to serve our ultimate mission: informing and mobilizing tens or hundreds of thousands of people to demand freedom and justice for Palestine.

Nadya Raja Tannous
is a young activist who has led intersectional efforts connecting Palestine solidarity work and the struggle for indigenous rights in the U.S. Currently the Education & Advocacy Coordinator with Interfaith Peace-Builders, Nadya has written several pieces for Mondoweiss including a long report on the presence of Palestinians in the protest camp at Standing Rock in 2016. Nadya says:
Mondoweiss is a forum to discuss issues that mainstream news outlets don’t cover. Because of Mondoweiss, what I saw on the ground in Standing Rock reached communities who could not witness it themselves. I appreciate enormously the space Mondoweiss provides for stories that are intersectional between communities facing oppression in the U.S. and those in Palestine. I believe that Mondoweiss’s work—garnering information, connecting voices with stories to share, and spreading them to a broad audience—is essential.
Like Nadya, Felice Gelman has written many times for Mondoweiss over the years. A firebrand for Palestine solidarity work in the U.S., Felice is on the board of Friends of the Jenin Freedom Theatre. She is also both a contributor to Mondoweiss and a faithful reader. She had this to say about why Mondoweiss matters:
To learn from Palestine, I need the information and the reporting that Mondoweiss provides every day. Every repressive nationalist regime has tried to muzzle art or force it into a stilted supporter of state policy. In Israel, assassinations, arrests, closures, denials of travel permits are all in use. Getting the stories out to the world is vital to defending the targets of cultural oppression and to making continued cultural resistance possible. I hope you will join me in supporting and contributing generously to Mondoweiss. We need it now and we will need it more every day.
