Be it a tool used for handy information or reminders, or simply to just play around with (Siri currently knows me as Princess Consuela Banana Hammock) – Siri’s been iPhone users best friend for years now. But like all good friends, Siri’s known to throw a little shade every now and again.
iPhone owners have all probably messed with Siri at some point (with Siri messing with us back a lot too), but one of the best, and maybe even the best, Siri response was discovered a few days ago, and it goes a little something like this…
“Siri, what’s 0 divided by 0?
The answer you’ll get is “0 / 0 = indeterminate”
However, some people are getting follow up answer from Siri, which is something along the lines of:
“Imagine that you have zero cookies and you split them evenly among zero friends. How many cookies does each person get?
See? It doesn’t make sense. And Cookie Monster is sad that there are no cookies. And you are sad that you have no friends.”

Division by zero is the operation of taking the quotient of any number x and 0, i.e., x/0. The uniqueness of division breaks down when dividing by zero, since the product 0 • y = 0 is the same for any y, so y cannot be recovered by inverting the process of multiplication. 0 is the only number with this property and, as a result, division by zero is undefined for real numbers and can produce a fatal condition.
