BEIRUT – Syrian Arab Army (SAA) forces and allies have now entered Khan Sheikhoun in northwest Syria, pushing western-backed terrorist ‘rebels’ from their key stronghold which has been under terrorist occupation since 2014.

Even the UK and EU-funded Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has admitted that the SAA have taken the town’s northern and eastern districts, and are poised to push jihadist militants north towards the surrounding rural areas and Turkey.

“Khan Shaikhoun has become completely surrounded by government forces and rebel fighters withdrew early on Tuesday,” said local ‘opposition’ activist Suleiman Abdulqader in Idlib, in a report for Al Jazeera.

Khan Sheikhoun sits along a key highway which links Damascus with the northern city of Aleppo.

This latest news comes just 24 hours after a Turkish military convoy was hit by an airstrike as it was delivering ammunition to terrorist militants in the Idlib area.

Reports are still not clear as to which air force actually struck the Turkish convoy, either Syria or Russia.

The damaged Turkish convoy still remains on the Damascus-Aleppo highway near the town of Maarat al-Numan.
