Taliban attack Pakistan border post

The Pakistani military said the attack began at 5:30 a.m. local time (0030 GMT) on Thursday in the Alizai district of the Lower Kurram Agency — located on the border with eastern Afghanistan, and lasted until 7 a.m. local time (0200 GMT), Xinhua reported.

The report added that the attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, injured three Pakistani troops and partially damaged the Bhittai post.

The Pakistani soldiers repulsed the attack with full force, killing four militants and injuring six others.

The attackers later fled the scene, leaving bodies of their accomplices behind at the scene.

The injured Pakistani troops were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Afghanistan and Pakistan blame each other for Taliban violence plaguing both countries.

Shelling across the porous mountain frontier between the two countries has raised tensions between Kabul and Islamabad.
