(Scroll down for video) A teen girl learned the hard way that a courtroom is not a nightclub, according to video uploaded to the internet.
After laughing in the face of a Miami, Florida, judge, he doubled the bail for an 18-year-old girl, Penelope Soto, from $5,000 to $10,000. The teen however, still didn’t get that a courtroom is serious business.
“Are you serious?” She exclaimed. The judge responded quickly: “I am serious. Adios.”
Soto then, as she left the courtroom, cursed the judge and gave him her middle finger. The judge called her back to verify what she had just said.
Once she admitted to cursing him, she got what was probably the shock of the week, when he said: “You are in direct contempt. Thirty days in the county jail.”
Soto was originally arrested for illegal possession of drugs against anxiety, a relatively minor offense. “Teens need to learn from this that facing a court is serious business and not a joke,” a court spokesperson told news reporters.
