The Common Sense Show Condemns Vigilante Violence Against Any Religion or Religious Institution

Carl James Dial Jr., of Palm Desert, was arrested on December 13, 2015 and booked for investigation of commission of a hate crime, arson, maliciously setting a fire to a mosque 75 miles from San Bernardino. I understand the anger at the loss of 14 people in a malicious act of ISIS terrorism directed at American citizens. However, we need to vigilantly adhere to the rule of law, as citizens, even when the Obama administration does not follow the Constitution.

It feels like our country is falling apart. Obama and Attorney General Lynch are out of control and the Department of Justice resembles the Stasi more than a Constitutional-serving branch of the Federal government. Lynch has threatened to arrest journalists, in violation of the First Amendment rights for daring to say that all immigrants need to be screened for their suitability to be admitted to the United States. If someone is a potential terrorist, according to the FBI, then they are not admitted. If an immigrant is already inside of the United States, and they are here illegally and are advocating against the Constitution, then they need to be immediately deported. We do not need any more San Bernardino’s. However, senseless violence will not bring the San Bernardino victims back to life.

Yes, there are terrorists who mean us harm and some, many, are of Middle Eastern background. However, there is something called due process. The American people must NOT lower themselves to the level of the Obama administration. The Common Sense Show will never condone vigilante violence against any group. Subsequently, violence is only to be used as a means of last resort and then, in only self-defense.

Did we not learn anything from our treatment of Native Americans in the name of Manifest Destiny? Did we not learn history’s lessons from the holocaust, and American slavery? Is America blameless for stealing the property and freedom of American citizens of Japanese descent in early World War II? I don’t think so. We must not forget our past.

If a mosque poses a security risk, it is a matter for law enforcement to deal with it. It is not for the local citizenry to endanger innocent lives and to act like judge, jury and executioner. This is what happens in China or in Russia when it suits those country’s needs.

We need to keep the pressure on our government to protect the public from the threats of terrorism. However, if the first casualty of this war is due process, then we have already lost the war. Let’s not sacrifice our integrity and love of the Constitution where we have the due process procedures in place to protect against tyranny.
