The only thing surprising about James Comey’s firing is that it took this long!

Donald Trump has just fired FBI Director James Comey. The firing was based on the recommendation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. I’m honestly surprised that this didn’t happen sooner. In fact, I wrote an article just five days ago questioning why Comey was still the FBI Director.

Here’s the official statement.

White House:

Today, President Donald J. Trump informed FBI Director James Comey that he has been terminated and removed from office.

President Trump acted based on the clear recommendations of both Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“The FBI is one of our Nation’s most cherished and respected institutions and today will mark a new beginning for our crown jewel of law enforcement,” said President Trump.

A search for a new permanent FBI Director will begin immediately.

And here’s the specifics on why Trump fired him. Looks as if Trump himself was never under any sort of FBI investigation per Comey himself. It will be tough for anyone in the media to spin his firing as an act of retaliation.

ABC:

In addition to a statement, the White House released the letter that Trump wrote directly to Comey dismissing him at the recommendation of the attorney general and the deputy attorney general, “effective immediately.”

“While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the Bureau,” Trump wrote.

“It is essential that we find new leadership for the FBI that restores public trust and confidence in its vital law enforcement mission,” Trump’s letter states.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ letter to the president was also released, wherein he states that he has “concluded that a fresh start is needed at the leadership of the FBI.”

“It is essential that this Department of Justice clearly reaffirm its commitment to longstanding principles that ensure the integrity and fairness of federal investigations and prosecutions. The Director of the FBI must be someone who follows faithfully the rules and principles of the Department of Justice and who sets the right example for our law enforcement officials and others in the Department,” Sessions wrote.

The biggest problem with Comey was how he dealt with the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s illegal e-mail server. It was obvious that she broke several laws but he chose not to recommend prosecution based on some lawyer psychobabble nonsense. The mishandling of this case undoubtedly impacted the morale of people within the FBI. It also ruined the public’s confidence in the institution itself.

On top of that, Comey has been actively pursuing an investigation into all sorts of kooky conspiracy theories surrounding Russia. This has been going on since the election and we’ve yet to see any hard evidence proving these alleged conspiracies. The only thing that’s been uncovered is that people in the Obama regime illegally spied on and unmasked information relating to members of the Trump team. This appears to have been an attempt to sandbag the Trump team with allegations about Russian conspiracies.

You’d think by now that this investigation would have been called off by now. Why is all this Russia nonsense being investigated when we have an open Jewish and Israeli conspiracy to control the federal government? Based on the voting record we’ve seen in the United States Senate, we know at minimum that they have control or influence over all 100 Senators. We also have this ridiculous business with Trump’s Jewish son-in-law Jared Kushner!

Comey also angered Democrats by telling Congress that he was re-opening the investigation into Clinton’s e-mail situation just days before the election. Clinton herself specifically blamed him for her election loss.

He was also criticized for making incorrect statements regarding the amount of e-mails Clinton’s top aide Huma Abedin had stored on her perverted Jew husband’s laptop.

The bottom line is that Comey made himself political enemies across within both Republican and Democrat circles. It is good to see him go but his firing was inevitable. I would not expect Comey’s firing to mark the beginning of a major swamp draining by Trump.

We must also consider that this is a carefully timed political distraction by Trump. Ann Coulter makes a good point about this possibility.

Curiously enough, Bill Clinton fired the sitting FBI Director only months after becoming the President. You can judge for yourself if there’s any significance to that or not.

Either way, it should be interesting to see who Trump decides to replace Comey with. This story will likely dominate the news cycle over the next 48 to 72 hours.
