Trump Sidekick Giuliani Addresses Terror Group Convention

By Kurt Nimmo

Rudy Giuliani, the former New York mayor who recently joined buddy Trump’s legal team to do battle against Robert Mueller, gave a speech to the Iran Freedom Convention for Democracy and Human Rights in Washington on Saturday. He said Trump is committed to regime change in Iran.

Giuliani, infamous for his crossdressing antics with Trump, also performed a theatrical stunt at the convention.

“At one point in his speech, Giuliani, who has served as an informal adviser to Trump and had been under consideration to be his secretary of state, pretended that his notes were the Iran nuclear deal, ripping them up and spitting on them,” reports Politico.

Politico reports the speech was hosted by the Organization of Iranian-American Communities (OIAC), “a group that aims to promote democracy in the Islamic Republic and was supportive of the December protests there.”

Politico, however, neglected to mention an important detail.

OIAC is known to be a front for the political arm of the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (MEK), which was listed Foreign Terrorist Organization from 1997 to 2012. OIAC has an office in Washington next door to the National Council of Resistance of Iran, another MEK front. Thanks to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s diligence, the terror group was taken off the terrorist list.

MEK is an odd piece of work. It has formed a cult of personality around its leaders Massoud and Maryam Rajavi. The group was originally Islamic, but was hijacked by leftist students in 1975 and turned into a Marxist organization. It played an active role in taking down the Shah and strongly supported the students responsible for the US embassy hostage crisis.

MEK, however, was unable to win a single seat in the 1980 Iranian legislative election and began criticizing Ayatollah Khomeini. In 1981, the group declared war against the government of the Islamic Republic and initiated a campaign of bombing and assassination. During the Shah’s reign, it bombed US corporations and killed US Army colonels and contractors.

Despite this, there is a love affair between the neocons and MEK. John Bolton, Trump’s current national security adviser, is a supporter, as is Cabinet secretary Elaine Chao. Others outside Trump’s orbit, including former CIA director James Woolsey and Richard Perle, remain ardent supporters, in part due to MEK’s frenetic lobbying behavior. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich—a close Trump confidant—is also a supporter.

Much of the anti-Iran rhetoric emanating from Washington is the work of MEK and its operatives. They accused “Tehran of sponsoring an international terrorist conspiracy, one tentacle of which is the alleged 1994 plot to bomb a Jewish community center in Argentina,” writes David Stockman. “And their neoconservative cheerleaders have taken up the cry, with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD), the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), the Israel Project, and the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the powerful pro-Israel lobbying group, all promoting MEK’s indictment.”

Giuliani isn’t shy about taking money and dispensing advice to the terrorist group. “I think my advocacy of MEK was one of the best things I’ve ever done,” he told McClatchy in 2016. “I’m proud of it and happy to defend it anywhere.”

It’s almost a sure bet Trump will soon dump the Iran nuclear deal. With fanatical anti-Iran zealots Bolton and Giuliani at his side and Israel’s Bibi Netanyahu engaging in a ludicrous show-and-tell warning of Iranian mullahs secretly building a nuclear weapon—a performance wholeheartedly embraced by the establishment media—there is no telling how far his administration will go to get something going with Iran.
