Turkey Boycotts Pizza After Euro 2016 Exit

Turkish restaurants are suspending their pizza orders after Italy lost to Ireland ending Turkey’s hopes of reaching the final 16 in the European football championship games in France.

On Tuesday Turkey beat the Czech Republic 2-0 hoping to be among the four best third-place finishers to advance to the last 16 stage.

Italy was defeated by a late Irish goal on Wednesday that helped them advance to the knockout stage as one of the top four third-place squads from Group E.Turkey

NEWS.am reports:

In particular, the selling of Italian pizzas has suspended for the past two days at Emirgan Cafe restaurant chain in Turkey, according to Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper of Italy.

In the last round of group stage in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro 2016 which France is hosting, Italy were defeated by a score of 0-1 to Ireland, which advanced to the knockout stage from Group E, and as one of the top four third-place squads.

Had Italy not lost this game, Turkey would have made it to the Round of 16 in Euro 2016, instead of Ireland, as the third-place team from Group D.Turkey
