Two men charged over Qld double murder

Two men have been charged with murder after the stabbing deaths of two men at Ipswich in Queensland, police say.

Police were called to Hill Street in North Ipswich, southwest of Brisbane, just before midnight on Saturday after receiving reports three people had been stabbed.

A 22-year-old man died at the scene, while an 18-year-old man died at Ipswich Hospital.

A third man, 24, was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with a stab wound to his back. He condition was not life-threatening.

Two men were helping police with their inquiries early on Sunday morning.

Later in the morning a police spokesman told AAP a 22-year-old man had been charged with two counts of murder and one count of committing an act with the intention of causing grievous bodily harm.

A second man, 18, was later charged with two counts of murder and one of wounding.

Both will appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.
