UK to crackdown on EU migrants

In her annual speech to the parliament, Queen Elizabeth II announced a number of new measures to tackle immigration, including restrictions to allowance of European Union (EU) applicants who are unable to show they have a genuine chance of getting employed.

Moreover, there will also be a residence test requiring residents to have lived in Britain for at least a year before they receive civil legal aid.

According to British Home Office, a new bill with “tough new measures to continue immigration reform and prevent illegal immigrants accessing services” will be at the heart of the government’s plans.

“The bill will ensure that this country attracts people who will contribute and deters those who will not,” the Queen said.

The Queen’s Speech also included proposals for legislation to change pensions, reduce social care costs, and stimulate Britain’s sluggish growth.
