Ukrainian Parliament calls for respect of country’s territorial integrity

The Ukrainian Parliament passed a motion appealing to the three Budapest Memorandum signatories for the respect of the country’s territorial integrity.

In 1994, the United States, the United Kingdom and Russia signed a memorandum in Budapest guaranteeing the territorial integrity of the country in exchange for giving up its nuclear weapons program. [1]

Armed men demanding Crimea’s secession, even its attachment to Russia, took over Simferopol airport.

From Russia’s point of view, the coup of February 22 already constitutes a violation of the Helsinki Final Act and the Budapest Memorandum on the part of the United States and the United Kingdom.
