THIS is the moment a defenceless man appears to be punched directly in the face by a police officer, despite being helplessly pinned down to the ground.
Footage from the incident shows three police officers from Avon and Somerset Police holding the man on the ground in a bid to restrain him.

A male officer is seen holding a clenched fist over the man’s face while two female colleagues help pin him down as he struggles.
The male officer then lands a blow on his face, before the three cops carry him onto his feet.
It is not clear what happened in the build up to the incident to prompt police action.
He claimed: “This guy was detained under the mental health act. Not a criminal.
“Whilst three officers had him in cuffs, he was punched without being able to defend himself .
“I think this is wrong.”

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police told The Sun Online: “We’re aware of the video circulating on Facebook which shows officers detaining a man in Yeovil.
“While we welcome and expect public scrutiny when officers are out serving our communities, it is important that all the available evidence is reviewed.
Cops said: “We’re aware of the video circulating on Facebook” but did not provide further comment
A police investigation into the incident will now take place
“We know this footage might cause concern but it is important that all the circumstances are independently investigated which will be conducted immediately by our Professional Standards Department.
“As part of these enquiries, the body worn video footage from the officers who attended the incident will be examined.”
Police have also released bodycam footage of the incident.
