Australian cricketer David Warner is likely to face disciplinary action from Cricket Australia (CA) after he apparently launched a scathing attack on two journalists on social media on Saturday.
Warner took to Twitter to launch an expletive-laden tirade directed at News Limited journalists Robert Craddock and Malcolm Conn after taking exception to an article published by Craddock which was critical of the Indian Premier League.
Warner is currently competing for the Dehli Daredevils in the high-profile tournament which was rocked this week by accusations of spot fixing against three players, including Indian Test paceman Shanthakumaran Sreesanth.
Warner, who has over 190,000 followers on Twitter, labelled one of the journalists a “p**ck”, saying they “talk s—” and branded the other an “old fart” in his explosive series of tweets on Saturday.
Both Craddock and Conn responded to the abusive tweets sparking a back-and-forth exchange.
To Craddock, one tweet said: “Shock me @crashcraddock1 talking s— about ipl jealous p–ck. Get a real job. All you do is bag people. #getalife”.
He went on to write: “All he did was talk s— about the greats now he sucks up there (sic) ass. Talk more crap why don’t you.”
When Conn came to the defence of his colleague Warner responded: “are you still talking you old fart, no wonder know one (sic) buys your paper.”
It has not been confirmed whether Warner’s Twitter account has been hacked.
CA says it is aware of comments made on Warner’s twitter account and is attempting to contact the big-hitting batsman.
The organisation says it will make further comment once it has conducted a thorough investigation.
The NSW batsman was out for a duck in Delhi Daredevils’ seven-run loss to Kings XI Punjab on Thursday night.
Warner averaged 24.3 on the failed India tour recently. The recall of Chris Rogers for the Ashes has placed his spot in the team under scrutiny.
