Why so many young people go vegan

In recent posts and surveys, data shows that veganism or plant-based eating has gone mainstream. Domyhomework123.com has also developed knowledge-based articles with regard to veganism. There is an influx of young people who have concerns about the environment and animals’ general welfare on the planet.

Not long ago, veganism sounded more like a pipe dream than a reality. It has become somewhat routine and mainstream, especially amongst the youth. It gets covered regularly on the news and features new vegan products, recent reports on health matters touching on plant-based consumption, and the impact that animal farming has on the environment.

The aspect has become more prevalent among the youth, and a recent study found that 44% of young people between the ages of 18-24 have the notion that becoming a vegan is more relaxed than smoking. Another poll found that at least one in five individuals believe that people will soon not be consuming meat and its products shortly. A question that is instead of burning is what has pushed young people to become vegan?

Motivation on veganism

From a recent poll, 38% of the youth have pointed out issues saying that they have concerns about the sustainability of meat production worldwide. The same source also discovered that about 4% of the child selected were already vegan or vegetarian.

A report from the International Panel on Climate Change, otherwise known as IPCC, released a firm report that stated that the planet would soon be doomed if we continue with the state of affairs that are already present. One of the recommendations in that report clearly said that humans need to reduce the amount of meat consumption and consume dairy products and by-products. The report further stated that about 14.5% of gas emissions from greenhouses get linked to animal farming, which is more than all vehicles for transport combined!

Meat industry threat

In September 2018, market researchers released a report that channeled their focus on chicken and burger restaurants. It stated that millennials stand to become the biggest threat to these entities since they are now after plant-based foodstuff rather than the meat they serve at their various outlets. Well, this could be a sign of future times as the experts think. Trish Caddy, a food analyst, says that operators should be in the frontline to tackle this issue through a simple process of offering varied choices to their consumers, and they should also include vegan burgers.

Meat reduction

A report released by GlobalData has suggested that about 70% of the world’s total population got reported to be either reducing the consumption of meat or avoiding it. Young people are at the forefront of spreading this.

Millennials are driving the shift towards food that is plant-based. They are likely to check the source of food, the issues surrounding animal welfare, and the impacts on the environment that get implied when they decide to purchase the product. The matter got seconded by a consumer analyst, Fiona Dyer, of GlobalData.

The millennials have gotten viewed as the generation that has been the laziest. They also get selfish and self-entitled, yet it has come out to be quite the opposite. They are actively taking significant measures towards ensuring that the planet will survive in the future.
