Militants targeted a security forces’ checkpoint in Bara area of Khyber Agency on Monday, injuring two soldiers, according to officials. The security forces then retaliated and killed ten militants.
Elsewhere, Pakistani forces attacked a militant hideout in Manzeki Kandove area of centeral Kurram Tehsil of Kurram Agency, killing three militants in the offensive.
In a separate incident, two Pakistani security forces were injured in a roadside bomb attack in North Waziristan Agency in a region near Afghan border on Sunday.
The Militants detonated the bomb with a remote-controlled device near Thal Pikkat area when a convoy of security forces was passing on the Razmak-Miranshah road.
Over 35,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001 when Pakistan joined an alliance with the United States in the so-called war against terrorism, according to local media.
Since late 2009, there has been a surge in militant attacks in Pakistan and thousands more have been displaced by the wave of violence and militancy sweeping across the country.
Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants and associated groups have carried out numerous attacks on security forces as well as civilians.
