Swastika in building elevator |
A swastika was found etched into an elevator in a Jewish building, in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn New York, according to reports.
Residents of the Wythe Taylor Housing Project were surprised to see a swastika scrawled on the wall of the elevator, with the words: “We Want Cameras,” above it. This project is one of many that still do not have any security cameras.
The swastika was painted in the elevator of a building in a Jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn on Tuesday, according to police.
The graffiti was discovered in a building on Clymer St. near Wythe Avenue in South Williamsburg, according to the local newspaper.
A resident of the Wythe Taylor Housing Project expressed surprised to see the swastika painted on the building elevator and condemned the attack, according to the local TV station.
The symbol of hate was probably painted during Monday night, a detective said.
The NYPD hate crime unit was investigating the incident. It was not immediately clear if the swastika was part of a pattern of anti-Semitic graffiti that recently hit the Jewish neighborhood.
