The film Red Carpet was screened in Gaza last week during the launch of the Karama Gaza Human Rights Film Festival. This festival includes narrative films, as well as short and long documentaries in Gaza, and is considered the first of its kind to shed light on the human rights cases in Palestine.

The opening ceremony for the film festival was held amid the ruins of destroyed homes in the Shujaiyeh district in eastern Gaza on 12 May and ended on 14 May. It was held in partnership with Jordan’s Karama Human Rights Film Festival in Amman.

The red carpet, which was 80 metres long, is usually laid out for celebrities and ministers; however, it was laid out for the residents of Gaza to pay respect to them and their sacrifices. People from all walks of life attended the opening ceremony including ordinary citizens, tribes, children, and those whose homes were destroyed.
