A 33-YEAR-OLD Aboriginal man faced court yesterday over an outback death believed to be the result of a ritual payback.
The man, from the remote Kiwirrkurra community in the Gibson Desert 2000km north of Kalgoorlie, was arrested on Thursday, two days after the bodies of a 24-year-old man and his 22-year-old girlfriend were found at a property.
Police initially said the woman’s death was not suspicious but said yesterday investigations were continuing.
The Australian revealed yesterday that the young man was thought to have died after a ritual act of payback over the death of the young woman.
The 33-year-old man was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.
He was not required to plead when he appeared in the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court by video-link and was remanded until next month.
