Washington Native Clifton Powell Tapes Anti-violence PSAs
WASHINGTON, April 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Actor and Washington native Clifton Powell recently visited the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) headquarters in Washington where he taped public service announcements (PSAs) for the agency.
Powell met with ATF Acting Director B. Todd Jones to discuss the impact of gun crime and violent gangs in communities nationwide. Powell, who has starred in more than 150 movies and television shows, talked about the importance of youth having positive role models to encourage them to make the right choices. Powell emphasized that today’s youth and young adults need to know there are alternatives to violent gangs and gun crime.
Jones thanked Powell for working with ATF to encourage youth and young adults to report violent gun and gang crime anonymously to ATF’s hotline at 1-800-ATF-GUNS.
Powell and Antonio Parker, former wide receiver and Super Bowl champion for the Green Bay Packers donated, their time to tape a series of PSAs, at ATF headquarters, that will be distributed nationwide throughout the summer months.
