The prolific propaganda house out of Qatar known as al Jazeera is at it again, this time claiming that an internal Libyan document offers proof of how Dennis Kucinich was attempting to build up a defense for Gaddafi’s second son, Saif al-Islam.

Their coverage of this also emphasizes that Kucinich was looking for evidence of the rebels’ ties to al Qaeda.

However, they paint this as if Kucinich was looking for “any possible links within rebel ranks to al-Qaeda” in order to defend Saif al-Islam and sue the United States, NATO and United Nations.

One must question the legitimacy of anything presented by the rebels, as they are admitted liars who will happily deceive the international community so long as it serves their interests.

I have previously covered just a few of the many examples of these lies and disinformation, and I think this most recent instance could very well be another example of how rebels and their apologists either misrepresent the facts or lie completely to benefit themselves.

Kucinich has already proven the al Jazeera coverage to be misleading and illegitimate in a statement to the Atlantic Wire in which he said, “Al Jazeera found a document written by a Libyan bureaucrat to other Libyan bureaucrats. All it proves is that the Libyans were reading the Washington Post… I can’t help what the Libyans put in their files… Any implication I was doing anything other than trying to bring an end to an unauthorized war is fiction.”

Of course the al Jazeera coverage made it appear that Kucinich had a close relationship with the Gaddafi regime and was attempting to work with them to provide a defense for Saif al-Islam in the ICC.

Another interesting point brought up by the al Jazeera coverage is the claim that David Welch, the former Assistant Secretary of State under the George W. Bush administration, advised the Gaddafi regime to utilize foreign intelligence agencies to undermine the rebel movement.

The alleged minutes claim that Welch advised the Gaddafi regime to use Israel to funnel intelligence that could impede the uprising.

This is in complete opposition to the facts and basic logic.

Why on Earth would Israel have any interest in setting back a group of rebels that openly supports them?

Why would Israel help Gaddafi crush an uprising which is led by individuals who have already declared their support of Israel?

The spokesperson for the Libyan rebels has already requested support from Israel and stated that if Israel supported them, they would support Israel.

When confronted with the fact that al Qaeda operatives are among the rebel forces, the rebel spokesman Ahmad Shabani told Haaretz that “Al-Qaida activists have been working for Gadhafi, among them Libyans and, according to reliable intelligence reports, foreigners who infiltrated the country’s porous borders.”

Who issued these reliable intelligence reports? Why have they not been made available if they are indeed reliable?

Shabani pointing out “foreigners who infiltrated the country’s porous borders” is laughable as well, seeing as the rebels have been working side-by-side with foreign intelligence agencies and covert operativesbefore the United Nations Security Council Resolution was even put on the table.

Shabani also said that the rebels are attempting to end the flow of arms from Libya into Gaza through Egypt.

To put it simply: even if the minutes are accurate and Welch advised the Gaddafi regime to utilize Israel to weaken his opposition, Welch would have simply been misinformed and wrong in advising such.

It must also be emphasized that Kucinich was never in direct contact with Gaddafi’s regime nor was he supporting their efforts nor was he attempting to help defend Saif al-Islam. While all of these facts are confirmed by Kucinich himself, al Jazeera and others will likely pretend that he was in league with Gaddafi when in reality he was attempting to support the rule of law and the truth and nothing  else.

  1. A few more sources would have been preferable, as much as I like Kucinich it’s not enough to simply take for granted that because “Kucinich himself has confirmed this” that therefore it must be true. It raises some interesting points, though.

Note however that although all the tv stations were inoperable over there Al Jazeera continues to broadcast. What else but propaganda would keep them on the air in this uprising war torn land and no one else. Do not get sucked in by propaganda. As they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions on the surface. Al Jazeera acts like they are for liberated peoples but I just don’t see where anyone was liberated over these so called revolutions unless you count the dead bodies.

  2. Fuck Kucinich, i don’t know why some readers respect the bastard, he is just like the rest of them if not worse .

  3. Al Jazeera is just another zionist controlled rag. And they don’t like Kucinich because he doesn’t roll over for them.
