The Australian Medical Association (AMA) thinks a new women’s and children’s hospital should be built alongside the new Royal Adelaide Hospital in North Terrace.
AMA president Dr Patricia Montanaro said there was space for another hospital on the site and planning needed to start now, because the current Women’s and Children’s Hospital at North Adelaide was in need of upgrading.
“All hospitals have a life cycle and one could either spend significant investment on the current site or what would be a very good idea is to co-locate services for women with an adult hospital should those services be required,” she said.
