For the second year in a row, the Antipodes Festival/Lonsdale St Greek Festival has been postponed due to the pandemic. The Festival was scheduled for 5 and 6 March.

Traditionally taking place in the historic Lonsdale St Greek Precinct it is Melbourne’s largest Greek cultural celebration with over 90 stalls, three free entertainment stages and roving performers, children’s rides and activities, as well as multiple bars and an array of mouthwatering Greek culinary delights.

The Greek Community of Melbourne announced that “after much consultation and risk assessment, was decided to postpone the Antipodes Festival“.

The initial dates for March had been announced before the highly transmissible new variant Omicron brought an exponential surge in cases.

According to the announcement the Festival will now take place in October.

The full announcement reads as follow:

“After much deliberation, the Greek Community of Melbourne believes that it is in the best interest of the community to postpone the 2022 Antipodes Festival.

The safety of our staff, performers, contractors, and audience are our primary concern and responsibility so we have decided to move the dates of the festival to later in the year.

The new dates are October 22nd and 23rd so save the dates now! We can’t wait to have you join us for the biggest celebration of Greek Culture in Australia.”
