Appeal to release dying journalist from Israeli jails

Days of Palestine, West Bank -Forum of the Palestinian Journalists (FPJ) appealed on Monday to international rights groups to work for the release of dying journalist from Israeli jails.

According to the FPJ, the Palestinian journalist Bassam al-Sayeh, who is suffering from leukaemia, is dying due to the “intentional maltreatment” of the Israeli prison services.

In a statement, the FPJ appealed to the International Federation of Journalists and Reporters Without Borders to intervene to save the life of the journalist Al-Sayeh.

The statement stated that Al-Sayeh had been suffering from serious health conditions, noting that the Israeli prison services are denying him proper treatment.

Due to his severely deteriorating health conditions, Al-Sayeh became unable to move alone and he is currently confined to a wheelchair.

Last week, prisoners leaked a message from Al-Sayeh describing his deteriorated health condition and hoping that mass media highlight his issue.
