Aquatic animal exports up by 10%

Touching upon the latest status of shrimp and salmon production so far in the current Iranian calendar year, Hassan Salehi asserted “the shrimp farming acreage in the country is not less than the same period last year and no barriers exist on continuous storage of the product.”

The official also referred to salmon production conditions noting “given the amount of distributed eyed eggs, it is estimated that the production of salmon will go through an increase over the previous year.”

“Salmon production conditions have improved in the country as compared with a year before,” he added.

Salehi went on to underline that “exports of fishery products to Russia has its own procedures and proves to be a time-consuming process.”

“Shrimps remain as one of the most important of all species for exports to Russia,” highlighted deputy agriculture minister underscoring “Russia’s market conditions are believed to be better than in the last year though deployment of the product has not begun yet.”

Salehi, while considering exports of aquatic animals in the current year, said “statistics reveal that the volume of Iran’s exports has surged by 10 percent so far in comparison with the same period a year ago.”
