Artist Turns VHS Tapes, Floppy Disks and More Into People

I am completely wowed by the work of Nick Gentry. His ability to take the obsolete and “humanize” it is beyond words. I cannot even remember the last time I saw this many floppy disks in one place. I’m sure it involved installing Windows 95 or something of the sort.

The British-born artist definitely has a way of making us evaluate our actions. His art is that of yesteryear, from AOL CD mailers, boot disks down to VHS tapes. All items our fair society once depended on–like the smartphones of today–just discarded and forgotten.

This particular piece, called LIFE STORY, is a mixture of different paints all on floppy disks. You can see a lot more of his work over on Flickr. And if happen to be hoarding a bunch of old tech yourself, why not send it to Nick so he can transform it into art?
