In the aftermath of the botched gun-tracking operation along the Southwest border, called Fast and Furious, which allowed weapons from the United States to pass into the hands of suspected gun smugglers and Mexican drug cartels, two top supervisors at federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), headquarters have been reassigned.
William J. Hoover, the No. 2 man at ATF, will become special agent-in-charge of the agency’s Washington field office, while Mark Chait, who ran all of the field investigations around the country, is being reassigned as head of the Baltimore field office, the Washington Post reported.
Replacing Hoover as deputy director in Washington will be Thomas Brandon, who was sent to Phoenix to run the field office there. Hoover, who had broad supervision over Fast and Furious and was given routine operation updates, tried to shut it down six months after it started in the fall of 2009. Failing in his attempt, the operation continued until January of this year.

Just because you shuffle the deck doesnt mean the the cards can’t be traced. BATF needs to be shut down totally, separatred from all other Agencies and brought back only when honest people can be found to run the Agency. (of course, this means never, but then that’s the Goal.)
Reassigned to a box in the dirt? We can only hope. Ala fast and furious smuggled AK 47. An appropriate promotion.
It seems like we’re still in the early innings of this story.
The dopecast (dopefiend.co.uk podcast ) recently talked about drug running in the southwest that has also been going on recently under federal law enforcement supervision. It wasn’t very specific in terms of naming people involved, and I haven’t heard much else on it from any other news sources, but it will be interesting to watch it play out.
How about being reassigned to being Bubba’s cell mate. That would wipe the stupid smerk off their faces.
Only in America, where government criminals get reassigned and civilian peasants go to prison. Irony to the tenth power.
