Queensland police believe Allison Baden-Clay knew her killer, and are confident they will make an arrest soon.
Mrs Baden-Clay’s husband Gerard reported her missing from their home in Brookfield, in west Brisbane, on April 20 and her body was found under a bridge 10 days later.
The chief investigating officer has now confirmed to The Sunday Mail that the 43-year-old mother-of-three’s murder was not random.
“We believe that Allison may have known her attacker,” Detective Superintendent Mark Ainsworth said.
It is also understood that Mrs Baden-Clay’s husband Gerard has not yet made an official statement to police since reporting her missing.
Superintendant Ainsworth told the Mail detectives did not yet known how many offenders were involved in Mrs Baden-Clay’s death.
It’s understood police are still awaiting toxicology and other test results to determine a cause of death.
Around 600 people farewelled Mrs Baden-Clay at her funeral at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Ipswich on Friday.
On Friday, students from Mrs Baden-Clay’s former school, Ipswich Girls’ Grammer, and members of the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service formed a guard of honour outside the church as the coffin left.
