Information on Battlefield 4 continues to pour out following the game’s official reveal Wednesday evening. The latest news is that DICE has revealed that it dropped co-op from the upcoming military shooter for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, PS4 and Xbox 720.
According to a translated interview with IGN Benelux, DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson said that co-op was dropped from Battlefield 4 to focus on the single-player campaign and multiplayer modes.
Shacknews followed this report up with DICE and was told that Troedsson’s translated comments were accurate.
Battlefield 3 featured a series of two-player co-operative modes with mixed results while the single-player campaign was largely perceived as the weakest link in the game.
It’s no coincidence that DICE introduced Battlefield 4 with 17 minutes of footage from the single-player campaign. The studio wants to show that it has the chops to make a compelling single-player and not known just for its multiplayer.
